AN 89-year-old man survived a 12-storey fall from his home in northeastern China's Jilin Province yesterday, the local East Asia Economy and Trade News reported today.

The man, who lives on the 12-floor in Jisheng Garden Neighborhood in Jilin's Changchun City, was found lying face up on the ground at about 7:50am after he fell out of his apartment window and smashed through a plastic shed on the first floor, the report said.

"He remained conscious at that time and didn't seem to have a lot of injuries," a resident surnamed Wang, who was the first to find the man, told the newspaper.

The man was diagnosed with a bone fracture on one leg and minor scratches on his hands, the report said.

The report said the man fell out the window as he leaned over to get a better look at the view.
