青少年未淡忘本土文化 北京路最代表广州
Contrary to the common belief, most of the local kids remember their
origin, said a survey by Guangzhou Children’s Palace, whose theme is “the local
kids’ recognition of local culture”. The survey includes 700 primary and middle
school students in the city.
Despite the worries that “the kids are choosing to forget local culture”,
maybe we should not be too pessimistic, because the kids don’t have in their
eyes only things like hamburgers and the so-called “super girls”.
60% of kids know about the Huangpu Military Academy
Even in primary school pupils below the third grade, about 60% know about
the Whampoa Military Academy and the Huanghuagang Martyrs’ Tomb, not to mention
middle school students, of which 65.3 know the story behind the historic sites.
According to the survey, Dr. Sun Yat-sen is named the most proper
representative of Guangzhou with a 67.1% recognition, while Zhou Bichang, a
local “super girl” only got a 10% recognition, lagging far behind Sun Yat-sen.
Another inspiring result is that 68.2% of middle school students are proud
of the Cantonese Opera, a traditional art form, and 52.1% of primary school
pupils have the same feeling.
Beijing Road represents Guangzhou
Most of kids also choose local shopping malls to represent Guangzhou, with
Beijing Road, Zhuangyuanfang and Shangxiajiu reaching the recognition of 65.1%,
51.4% and 50.9% respectively in the survey.
Nearly 90% of the kids are proud of the new Baiyun International Airport
and choose it to represent Guangzhou in the area of local infrastructure. And,
nearly half of the surveyed kids also choose the CITIC Plaza to represent
Guangzhou.
Besides, 73.4% of the kids are proud of the “Morning Tea” as part of a
unique eating culture, while 69.7% took pride in Lichee, which they think could
also be representatives of Guangzhou.
